On Wednesday a Utah judge heard arguments challenging the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. Attorneys argued that discrimination must end now, citing the United States Supreme Court decision on marriage equality. Roughly one hundred people attended the hearing.
Utah’s ban on marriage equality has been in place for nearly a decade; voters passed it in 2004. U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby said he aims to reach a ruling in the early months of the coming year.
