It was the best of times… It was the worst of times… But no matter how you look at it, 2012 will be remembered as one of the most historic years yet for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
There were monumental strides in politics: openly LGBT people won elections nationwide, marriage equality victories rolled in during the election in November and resounding same-sex marriage support came from surprising new directions — including from President Obama himself.
