TAMPA — Pinellas County became the sixth county in Florida to approve a domestic partner registry for same-sex couples, though the rights afforded LGBT couples through that registry are not recognized in much of the rest of the state.
Still, the law will grant registered couples the right to visit one another in hospitals, make medical decisions for one another and possibly share health insurance coverage, if the contract is recognized by employers.
