Republican Paul singer gave $250,000 to Marylanders for Marriage Equality yesterday, Towelroad reports. Singer is the founder and CEO of hedge fund Elliot Management Corporation in New York City and has give over $10 million to marriage equality efforts across the country.
Singer, who has a gay son, has been a supporter of gay rights issues for over a decade. He told reporter Frank Bruni of the New York Times in an interview earlier this year that, “‘nothing I had ever done in political policy or philanthropy’ was quite like this work, because marriage rights have such a specific, immediate and emotional impact on gay and lesbian couples.”
