April Follies is in its 11th year as the largest and longest running same-sex dance competition in North America and is hosting the 2013 North American Same-Sex Dance Championships. Top level dancers come from all over North America as well as Europe and Australia to compete. Day time competition runs from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, a community dinner from 5:30 – 6:30 PM is followed by an hour of beginning dance lessons then the finals of top level dancers at 8 PM and an all-star dance show with time left for social dancing.
Friday night April 26 is a Welcome Dance at Oakland’s Lake Merritt Dance Center. A community meeting followed by dance workshops taught by top notch out-of-state instructors will be held on Sunday April 28 at Vima Dance in San Francisco.
