Poll shows presidential debates influence most votes

How much impact do Presidential Debates have on the American voter? Quite a lot, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center.

Two-thirds (67 percent) of those who voted in the 2008 election said the debates between Barack Obama and John McCain were very or somewhat helpful in deciding which candidate to vote for, according to the Pew Research Center’s quadrennial post-election survey. (About three-in-10 (28 percent) said they were “very helpful” and 39 percent said they were “somewhat helpful.”)
