Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Lynch, Jennifer Hudson and Marg Helgenberger are officially star-worthy. The women, along with 20 other notables, have been named part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2013.
The 24 new inductees will be honored with the installation of a star on the illustrious Hollywood Walk of Fame.No date has yet been declared for placing of the stars.
The Walk of Fame comprises over 2,400 five-pointed stars along a 15-block stretch of Hollywood Boulevard and a three-block section of Vine Street in Hollywood. Over 10 million people per year visit the public monument to achievement in the entertainment industry.
Each year, over 200 nominations are received and considered by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee. While anyone may nominate an individual or act for the honor, a letter of agreement from the celebrity or his/her representative must accompany the application. Notables who have declined the honor include Clint Eastwood and Julia Roberts.
At the time of seletion a fee is collected to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as general maintenance of the Walk of Fame. The fee is usually paid by the nominating organization, which may be a fan club, or a film studio, record company, broadcaster or other sponsor involved with the prospective honoree.
