Wolfe Video founder Kathy Wolfe

The lesbian-owned and operated film distributor Wolfe Releasing/Wolfe Video celebrates 30 years in the business this summer. After being honored by Outfest last week the company’s founder, Kathy Wolfe, spoke with AfterEllen’s Dana Piccoli reflecting on the company’s last three decades of film history and the importance of seeing our lives reflected on the big (and small) screen.

Wolfe Video has been responsible for releasing some of the most beloved LGBT films of all time and has always been especially dedicated to serving lesbian audiences. Kathy talks about some of these films and how Wolfe worked to bring LGBT films into the mainstream as well as Wolfe’s early relationship with Lily Tomlin (they released Tomlin’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe originally on VHS and DVD).

Kathy also previews some of the big new lesbian movies on the Wolfe slate including All About E, Liz in September and The Girl King!
