I’m a big Jodie Foster fan since the 70’s. I’ve seen her speak live, too. I don’t usually watch TV but I did just watch her speech on YouTube. My take on it is that she is freaking out because she is 50, newly divorced, her mother has Alzheimer’s, and she feels like she can’t just go out and date like other people can, and so she (wrongly) thinks she is more lonely than the rest of us. She’s feeling vulnerable and afraid, and given her life in the public eye, she figured it can’t hurt to just put it out there and see what happens. She is feeling so lonely that she is willing to give up her career in exchange for the outpouring of love she will undoubtedly receive from her family and friends. How nice for her that she can do that. Bravo on Reality TV 101.
