Two cases will go before the Supreme Court regarding the legality of same-sex marriage in the United States, one on March 26 involving Proposition 8, and the other the following day, March 27 will consider the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, which was signed into law in 1996 and federally defines marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman.
